9. Letters of Reference & Customer Comments

JANUARY 15th, 2015 UPDATE:

I am pleased to announce that we are now an ACCREDITED BUSINESS under the Nova Scotia Better Business Bureau as well as an ACTIVE MEMBER under the Firewood Vendor's Association of Nova Scotia also found under Access Nova Scotia.

Please check out what consumers say about my business and way I do things under the Nova Scotia Better Business Bureau under Customer/Consumer Reviews

WOOD ISSUE UPDATE May 28th, 2015. This noted below is very important to read. And once you do, take heed and DO THE MATH!

After receiving several calls this week about companies; and in general, wood sellers, some registered with the Registry of Firewood Vendors in Halifax and surrounding areas, and then after a conversation with Measurement Canada referencing the same, I am appalled at the response on the matter. Classified as being sold as a 'UNIT', this so called practice is way less than a proper cord by MEASUREMENT CANADA STANDARDS and Measurement Canada informs me that this is LEGAL, even though it is not a proper cord based on a STACKED CORD of 128 cubic feet. When I look at this, I see TWO STANDARDS here and sadly, YOU, THE CONSUMER, you are the ones being SCREWED ONCE MORE by the way of Government. We need CONTROLS - not people being allowed to change the rules or say, 'it is legal as long as the customer is told it is a UNIT or some other wording letting them know it is NOT a PROPER CORD, all in all, being sold 'LEGALLY LESS' than a cord and in the process of that, not using the words 'CORD or STACKED CORD' What the hell is wrong with people? And here I thought Measurement Canada wanted to make this an even playing field.

Having ONCE AGAIN checked Measurement Canada's site on Firewood, the following ARE NOT CONSIDERED AS LEGAL MEASUREMENTS pertaining to FIREWOOD. (Short Cord, Face Cord, Thrown Cord, Processed Cord (for which a UNIT CORD TRULY IS coming in between 85 to maybe 100 cubic feet), apartment cord and other amounts not listed and are TOTALLY ILLEGAL MEASUREMENTS in CANADA. So, my question is, why suddenly is Measurement Canada in Nova Scotia allowing this? In my books, it is allowing others a path to SCREW the consumer. So, be on your toes, always insist on a 'PROPER STACKED CORD AMOUNT, and above all, get your calculator out and do the math before ordering short cords as 'UNITS' or any other method of description. Remember, a guaranteed cord is 128 cubic feet. On a $300.00 cord, based on 128 cubic feet, that literally works out at $2.43 a cubic foot. On a 'UNIT'  sold, that becomes anywhere from $3.17 to $3.52 per cubic feet. So, WELCOME TO THE WORLD OF DOUBLE STANDARDS and GOVERNMENT.

*********************************************************************************
Also, I must apologize for not keeping up with letters from customers, but it literally got out of hand and people asked, 'why was my letter not posted'? Simply put, in 2014 I received over 80 letters and I just cannot justify publishing them all for time involved, space and fairness.
POSTINGS FROM DECEMBER 23-2012.

I Sell Tri-Maple Mix Hardwood cut & split @ $    .00 per cord.

I sell a Yellow & White Birch Mix when available cut & split for a bit less per cord.

NOTE:

AVOID BUYING ANY FIREWOOD IN WINTER IF AT ALL POSSIBLE. MOISTURE IN WOOD BECOMES FROZEN AND WILL APPEAR AS SOMEWHAT SEASONED. WHEN, AND IF YOU CONSIDER BUYING WOOD AFTER NOVEMBER 15TH OF ANY YEAR, INSIST ON THE WOOD BEING MOISTURE PROBED IN YOUR PRESENCE TO AVOID BEING SCAMMED ON SOMEONE MAKING THE CLAIMS THEIR WOOD IS SEASONED. IF THEY CANNOT PRODUCE A WOOD MOISTURE PROBE AT THE TIME OF DELIVERY,  AVOID BUYING WOOD AND SAVE YOUR MONEY BECAUSE 9 TIMES OUT OF 10 THE WOOD WILL BE WET OR GREEN.

In life there are NO easy solutions. We try counteracting this by making intelligent choices by, and based on the facts that we get proper and clear direction in our search for the proper answers. As for what is right, and for what is wrong for the Property Owner, it is he, or she, who should be the one that is in charge of making the correct decision in life as by what his, and her family needs are.

Customer letters of Reference, Comments, Concern and Opinions:

Not to sound off the wall, bragging or boring, I have posted only a few of the comments received in the past few years on the product I sell, representation of it and the professionalism displayed to the best of my ability. I feel this is a plus to me and something worth sharing as I strive to make a difference in what seems to be a con trade for the many cheaters and scammers out there.
Any of the correspondences below will not be, and are not in any special dated order. They will be posted as received and will be placed as I feel are appropriate. However, dates received will be left on the original letter and time received.

This section will be totally devoted to customers and people with comments, concerns, and can as in some cases, will be used in the form of an open forum. It will be my intention to make an honest effort to make available space between this site and the newly being worked on site for further issues and concerns.

Please note: For privacy matters, any comments via Emails, letters copied and/or by any other form, WILL HAVE all of the PERSONAL CONTACTS REMOVED. Should there be a need to contact any of them, I will be glad to submit any and all letters of question to them directly for their opinions, comments and decisions on whether to make contact with you or not. However, ALL INFORMATION such as NAMES, CONTACT INFORMATION, PROPER ADDRESSES and PHONE NUMBERS must be placed on ANY CORRESPONDENCE TO ME before any further contact will be initiated. With me, my customers and anyone having the opportunity to deal with me will have me looking out for their best interest and privacy above and beyond before anything else transpires.

Subject: problem fix

Hi Frank;

I just wanted to thank you for being so helpful in going out of your way to solve our problem on the garbage wood we received from Rob’s Firewood off of Kijiji. My wife and I had no idea that Kijiji was such a garbage place for housing the wood crooks of this Province. I do agree it is sad when both the Government and Kijiji turn their backs on you. I find it appalling that Kijiji condones these actions of the repeat offenders defrauding the many by the lies they post. As you told me on the phone, Kijiji would remove my ads of warning. They did in the first 4 hours. Why is it they do not want people to know the truth about who advertise on there? How many ads do this Arland fellow and this Halliday person run in a season? For 4 years in a row we have been jilted on wood and screwed over for us being trusting people. We have learned a valuable and painful lesson over this.

I do want to thank you for your patience and clearly point out that your website has taught us much. You have gained us as customers for life and can only suggest more people should read your site, learn and protect themselves before buying wood. As for the wood you sold us, we piled it as you suggested, measured it in the proper manner and am pleased to report  that the four cords we purchased from you was all Maple Mix as you promised, kindling and blockends were included as you promised, the wood was clean and did pile out over 4 cords.

At first, I will admit I was reluctant to try yet another person whom we didn’t know. However, a friend suggested you, a visit to your website, and when listening to the CBC story on your site, much made sense on why 4 cords from Robs only turned out to be a bit over 2 cords. Then, reading what other people wrote about you and your business, the decision was easy. I must confess that I thought the wood and delivery fees quoted were high; not knowing for sure what we would be getting, but I now know and agree that is not so when quality is present and everything is as promised. I think the biggest lesson Marlene and I learned is that cheap from someone not listed with the Firewood Vendor’s Association and Registry of Joint Stocks, but yet advertising on Kijiji gets you screwed over and offers you nothing but headaches when there is no protection to the consumer from the crooked liars and cheaters posing as honest do-gooders. I will further that by clearly stating to date that from October 15th up until December 7th  of this year we have burned half the amount of  wood we received from you in comparison to the trash we were delivered last year by Robs or whomever they are.

Again, thank you Frank and have a great holiday season.

Tim and Marlene

Hi Frank. Just following up with you regarding the cord of wood I bought this summer. I have been burning it and it burns just fine. I think the moisture % was around 22% back then when it was delivered. No problems or complaints from me. I’ve had local “experts” (friends and co-workers) tell me it will never burn this year.... well it burns great! Thanks for your honesty and I will be in touch next summer for more.

You didn't stack it in my back yard. Ha ha just kidding. You were the most professional company I have dealt with when it comes to firewood. I laughed when you told me to put my money away until you dumped the wood and showed me the moisture content. Every other company made me pay first then they dumped the wood. You need to rename your company to "Honest Frank's Firewood". Ok, now lets say it doesn't burn until next year, I still got a stacked cord which is more than the other companies offer. Good job Frank! I'll let you know how it burns in the fall. Thanks for the follow up, no other company did this either. Need more people like you in this world.
Thanks, Steve

Hi Frank,

All good here, and happy with the product and service. We got the wood all stacked up in the shed the day after delivery and also got some air stacked in the house. Looks like it's drying up fairly well so I should be able to start burning around x-mas time. Thank you.

Hi Frank,

Thank you for the message.  I am very pleased with the wood and have nothing but positive feedback for you.  My neighbor, who has been ordering 8 foot lengths locally and then blocking and splitting it himself with an axe for many years,  came over a couple of days ago, looked at the huge pile of wood you delivered and said, “Those were some nice trees”.  I’m sure it killed him to say that – if you knew him as I do -- but he had no other choice.  The wood is VERY clean, will dry well before the Fall, and both quality and quantity is second to none from what I’ve experienced.  On top of that, it’s actually hardwood as promised.
I mentioned in an earlier email -- as well as in person when you did the delivery -- that my previous two deliveries from the guy I found on Kijiji were terrible experiences.  The wood was very wet and dirty (muddy and lots of bark), and, was advertised  as “The Best Dry Firewood”.  A couple of years ago I needed dry firewood just before Christmas to help offset the electrical bill and was expecting dry firewood. I made it a priority to only contact suppliers who were advertising DRY FIREWOOD.  The firewood that was delivered was not dry. In fact, I could not burn it until the next year and I became very discouraged because I knew I had been scammed by the same guy a second time - he was operating under different names on Kijiji and I had no idea that it was the same “company” until the truck arrived and dumped the wood. I immediately called his cell phone and to my surprise he didn’t answer. I tried for several days and still no answer.  I sent an email and finally got a response. They told me that I didn’t have a Christmas spirit and that if I wanted dry firewood I should order it in the spring and let it dry. I didn’t order firewood from anyone the next year because I was expecting the same crap.  Well, I had a huge $894 power bill this January so back to internet I go looking for firewood and thankfully I ended up on your website.  It was an eye-opening read. I have absolutely no regrets paying the extra money for your quality firewood and delivery fee.  Yes, it’s more expensive and costs more for delivery than what I’ve been able to find on Kijiji,  however, it’s well worth it and you can definitely expect a call from me next Spring asking for more.

All the best to you and your family.

Many Thanks,
Roland

Hi Roland;

I usually wait a few days before contacting people on wood deliveries made, but I will be a way for a few days and wanted to do this before I went.

Just a follow up on the wood delivery to make sure all was as was explained and that there were or are no problems. Should there be, by all means do contact me. I like to make sure all is as was explained and satisfactory, and done with the best of professionalism possible.

Should you want to make any comments pro or negative for my website as Customer testimonials under section #8, please feel free with the understanding that all contact names and info ARE REMOVED. I do invite you to check out Section #8 on my site. I find that sometimes the feed-back from the experiences of other people do make bringing forth the crooked wood sellers a point of thought and consideration when someone does what they say and gives what the customer asks for. As before, my objective is to bring these crooked persons forward and place them in the limelight they deserve.

Hi Frank,
I think your ears must have been burning because my wife and I were just speaking to this a few weeks ago about sending you an letter commending everything from the service to the quality of the product. By all means, use me as a reference, feel free.

First off, I am a Quality Analyst for Halifax Regional Municipality. That being said I have a knack for exhausting any and all avenues of information to make the most informed decisions possible; the main reason we (you and I) had so many correspondences before our purchase of your wood-I felt bad but you were absolutely diligent, polite, informative, positive, and confident with what I was asking, we almost couldn't say no. The experience has been nothing but positive. The service is as good as the wood.

I had little to no experience with burning wood and you helped a lot. The wood was delivered and dropped with care and communication. In taking your advice, the results are fantastic, we've used a fraction of what we used last year (having bought a poplar mix from a local vendor the previous year), the rock maple you provided has been almost too good to be true; more total combustion, less ash, means less work. Overall you've gained a faithful return customer for years to come. Thank you.

All the best to you and your family.

Hi Frank,

Happy Holidays to you and yours! I am quite certain you have been busy with the influx of calls and emails you have been receiving about your services, which, in my opinion, is a sad testament to the quality of products that are available to people that just want an honest value for their dollar, when there only appears to be a single person with the integrity to stand behind his products, and HIS WORD! I commend you on your candor and vast wealth of knowledge that you have shared with the public, at the expense of your time. It is true, that it is everyone's responsibility to educate themselves , and your website and conversations I have had with you have certainly helped me in feeling very confident in my knowledge of wood and the proper method of purchasing as well as safe burning.

We are very happy with the quality of product we have received, 2 cords tri-maple and a cord of black poplar, and if anything, we have had to modify our previous stoking habits, as we were used to burning more wood then is required, but the heat is MORE then acceptable now, especially since we have let it dry since April.

We have referred some friends , and spoke very highly of you, and they were , like us, astonished on what you had delivered! I couldn't have asked for easier burning wood! We have seen , in the past, even with several months of drying time, other products have still acted 'wet' and were frustrating to maintain, but, in tandem with the chippings you had provided, a handful in the morning , and a few smaller pieces of kindling, the fire is roaring in no time!

I look forward to speaking with you in the future, as this experience has certainly restored my faith that not everyone is out to screw you, and I hope you continue to lead the charge in having people in authority recognize and make the changes that are so obviously needed!

Thanks again, and have a great New Year!

Hi Frank,
Thanks for your email. We are really happy with the wood that we bought from you this fall, and the advice that you gave us was invaluable as neither of us have had to buy firewood before & hadn't got a clue what we were doing!  The wood dried out nicely & I have the fire going as I write this email to you.
We will certainly be coming to you again next year when we need to re-stock for the winter, and I will follow your advice on getting it before summer - it is a pleasure dealing with you & I have really appreciated your guidance on the different types of wood/what would be best for us etc.  I doubt whether many other sellers would take the time to provide this!
I hope you & your family have a great Christmas & New Year & we look forward to seeing you again in 2013!
Kind Regards
Alison & Steve
HRM.

Hi Alison and Steve;

It was nice to meet both of you this fall. I am hoping all the wood dried well enough to comfortably burn and be safe in all aspects. However, any questions, please do not hesitate. I would suggest next year; whether buying from me or not, to consider getting your wood before early summer to take advantage of the best dry times as possible.

As I do the end of every year, I follow up with people and update them on whatever is new in this challenging business. It is a hobby for me, and with trying to get Government to Regulate the problems in it with the crooked foolishness involved, it has been, and will be an ongoing challenge. I do invite all to check out the new updated site for further info on wood and the problems connected to it.

Good evening Mr. Rhyno.

I thought since it is the time of year to be thankful, I would drop you a few lines to thank you on the Maple Hardwood we purchased from you this August. Being a first time customer; and one who was both leery and thinking your wood was expensive, we cannot thank you enough. In your explanation on our first initial contact on how to buy wood and what to look for when it comes to cost and quality, we have learned so much and above all, see now that your wood is not expensive. I have learned that getting good wood and quality wood both burns better and goes much further than the junk sold to us in past years. I wish we would have bought 4 cords instead of two. The wood we have burned in comparison this year to last year is about 30 to 40% less. I find we have way more wood left for the same time frame as last year, having used the wood almost identical in time frame and amount. Your wood does last longer and being the winter Cut as you explained, it makes things so much better and warmer when burning it.

I have spent hours on your website and agree with you that Government controls are needed because as a consumer we have no protection from the crooked ones that seem to be advertising everywhere on Kijiji. Our neighbour referred us to you and we are so thankful they did. I must further this by saying this is the first time in nearly 20 years of burning wood that we have ever gotten the quality of wood we received, the proper amount that we ordered and paid for and are fully satisfied. Your service was impeccable, your nature in explanations to all of our questions on wood and issues was more than comfortable and we will gladly refer you to anyone. Thank you again, and do have a great holiday and we will see you in 2013.

Hi Frank.

Thanks for the phone call Last Week on the overcharge on the delivery fee. I really wouldn't lose too much sleep over it. For the amount of $10.00, I think we have been treated more than fair in the quality and the amount of wood received. Let’s just call the $10.00 a tip. As for the wood you delivered, this is the most fantastic product we have ever received. The quality is second to none and the piled wood count blew us away. This is the first time in seven years that we have ever piled three cords of wood and ended up with more than three cords of wood. The kindling and block-ends are fantastic.

From past experience from the crooks that advertise on Kijiji, we had gotten jilted in count and the quality of wood. Most times we had no idea who we bought from. Also, you are the first person who has ever followed up and kept in contact after the sale and delivery was made. You have a great product, sell a great product and do a great job in educating us who are not as fortunate to understand wood and the problems one can have when getting the wrong wood for our needs. And your website is a mind blower. Thanks again and we will see you next year.

Hey Frank;

I want to thank you for the advice on getting this damn crap I bought from (XXXXXXXX) {I have removed the name of the selling business in HRM whereas I was not supplied with a printed proof of purchase from the author of this letter} dry enough to finally burn. I never got far when I called them other then them saying the wood was cut in the spring. I should have taken your advice in October when you gave it, but being the typical male wanting to try save dollars, I chose to think you were like the rest by selling a bill of goods just to make sales. I never realized how wet this crap was until it wouldn’t burn.

The wood has dried significantly and we have been butrning it for a week now. I also took your advice and bought one of the moisture meters. I couldn’t wait for the one you suggested but found one at Princess Auto and seems to work ok. The wood is now between 24 to 29 overaqll and the pipe temps are hot enough that I would burn my hands now as opposed to the way it was when I contacted you in December. When I fist put the meter on it the moisture content was so high it wouldn’t even register. I agree with you that something in this province needs to be done to protecvt us from the crooks telling lies to make sales.

Again, thank you frank and I assure you, you will have my business this year and as long as you want it.

Emerson.

I ditto all the comments.   The biggest difference I find is that there's less smoking because the wood is so clean.  I agree it burns hot and yes, it is so nice to receive a proper cord.  I too have been ripped off, received disgusting dirty wood dumped in my driveway.   No matter what the wood association says, I would back you up 100%.  they should be going after the other crooks who sell the poorest of quality of wood for top dollar.

Anyways, happy holidays.

Happy Holidays, and thanks Frank, we are warm and dry with the airtight stove and the great wood and all its trimings. We really appreciate the inclusion of chips and end cuts. the chips are messy but they have been great kindling. plenty of time this summer to have a clean house!lol
good luck with your project, and thanks for keeping in touch.

Hi Maureen;
As I do the end of every year, I follow up with people and update them on whatever is new in this challenging business. The boat thing and shipping wood to an island was new and definitely one of the most interesting challenges I have had yet. It is a hobby for me and with trying to get Government to regulate the problems in it with the crooked foolishness involved, it has been, and will be an ongoing challenge. Still, I like to try going the little bit extra to make it happen and hopefully do things helpful and correctly. I do invite all to check out the new updated site for further info on wood and the problems connected to it.

JUNE 21/2012 UPDATE ON A DELIVERY DISCUSSION:
While delivering a load of wood to one of my customers his next door neighbour stopped me in the street and asked me to come to his yard to look at his wood and give him my opinion. First, I did say that it was kitchen cut as they did in the old days when people used Key-mac oil/wood combination burning stoves. The wood was a combination of several hardwoods including some Maple, white Birch, Yellow Birch and Green & White Poplar. As I told him, very few people use kitchen cut wood whereas it burns up too quickly and does not support long term heat. He told me he bought 6 cord. As I responded to him, and my exact words were, 'I am very doubtful on the 6 cords. What it looks like to me by what is piled and on the ground is about 3 1/2 cords and perhaps possibly 4 cords when piled.' As I furthered the conversation, I clearly indicated that you may have asked for 6 cords. The problem is, many cutters DO NOT sell a Standard CUT and SPLIT cord but more-so advertise and sell a Standard Ground Laying Cord. What you have to learn is WHAT to ASK for and HOW to ask for wood when buying it. If you want to buy wood by the cord, clearly define that by stating in person or by written form that you want a PILED CORD of WOOD to measure out at 128 cubic feet when piled. If you don't, 95% of the time you WILL GET the Standard Cord cut and split which will only be 65 to 70% of a TRUE PILED 128 Cu. Ft. Cord. It is important to remember that YOU are in charge of what you are buying and it is UP TO YOU to clearly clarify how and what cordage you want when delivered.

Exactly what you described happened to me this week.  I ordered 4 cords of wood from a place listed on KIJIJI.  He comes in a big truck has me pay and sign a receipt before you drops it.  I thought that made sense since he could drop it and I not pay.  Anyways it was apparently in bins.  I could tell as soon as it was unloaded that it was not 4 cords.  Once piled up it was just over 2 cords of wood.  The company that got you is it "Willies Firewood" phone number 902-802-9913?  He is not answering his phone or returning my phone calls.Tim

Hi ----,

This is how that guy operates...I have since found out that his name is Arland Gave and lives at the junk yard plywood fortress on the end of Bissett Road in Cow Bay. You need to report to Measurement Canada and the Better Business Bureau. They won't do anything but at least it's on file. You will have a tough time recouping anything from that guy....he's a known crook. He has about 10-15 ads on Kijiji using different names such as Beacons, Big Charlies, Franks, Sonny's, A&G, etc. etc.

Willies is actually the name of the old scrap yard where he operates out from.

He has at least 10 cells phones and a guy who used to work with him told me he sits in his living room with the phones lined off and waits for a call. He avoids answering if he knows its number that he recently sent a delivery to..when you finally get him he calls you a F@#$%^&* asshole and hangs up.

No one such as police or BBB or measurement Canada will do anything about him. I tried to run havoc with him on Kijiji but I it caused me more grief than it was worth. Kijiji seems to be afraid of him for whatever reason. He has ripped a lot of people off and continues to do so. Please post on my Kijiji discussion area. It may help others steer away from him...

I cc'ed a guy named Frank Rhyno. He's another supplier that's battling it out with Arland. In fact, Arland stole his name by registering it himself, Franks Antique Tractors and Firewood.

Nonetheless let me know if you want to know more...

May/19/2012

Please note....the below section should not be classified as an update even though this is not the proper place for it. The call was interesting and a good question did result. However, the phone call I received last night from a gentlemen over wood he had delivered by, and through someone else, has given me reason to think and comment on this.

When ordering wood, be precise on what it is you want and what you expect when  it is delivered. Sadly, (and we will address this gentleman as Mr. Jones) when he ordered wood it was clearly established in the ad on Kijiji that the advertiser was advertising FIREWOOD. PLEASE UNDERSTAND THIS, the terminology 'FIREWOOD' is used loosely by many who advertise. In the sense of those ads, they DO NOT specify one kind or several types of wood when categorized as firewood.  When an advertiser advertises FIREWOOD, he IS NOT distinguishing any one type of wood. FIREWOOD used in ads, DO NOT emphasize HARDWOOD or clearly identify firewood as one distinguishable type of wood. In 9 times out of 10 it will be a combination or make up of several types of wood. Another thing to be aware on is anyone who is running one type of wood down over another. His lack of experience in telling the truth and dealing in and with quality will leave you holding the short end of the log for more reasons than one.

For your protection, you must CLEARLY IDENTIFY the type of wood you want by defining it to HARDWOOD and hardwood by name such as Maple, Yellow Birch, Black Poplar or other types. In doing so, it is IN YOUR BEST INTEREST to make sure you do not order FIREWOOD as it is commonly known, WITHOUT BEING CLEAR on just what type of hardwood or firewood that you want. Remember, it must be up to you to ASK FOR and ORDER the correct wood and by using the CORRECT terminology in getting that point across. If you don't, and the wood shows up and is defined as FIREWOOD, the seller is really not doing you wrong unless he is intentionally misleading you. Firewood can be classified as a mixture of several types of wood including SOFTWOOD as Mr. Jones ended up getting. Remember, mixed wood has different kindling temperatures and will create an unbalanced one sided burn that will cost you more money in the long run due to the amount of poor wood that is usually associated with FIREWOOD and MIXED WOOD. Buy one type of wood and burn only that type of wood. Why is simple! You might pay more, but in the long run it will actually work out to a long term saving of anywhere from 15 to 25% cheaper over the burn rate for a 12 month year.

MAY 17/2012 NEWS UPDATE ON N.S. FIREWOOD REGISTRY STATUS:
Sadly, the issues never stop with those trying to stir up and create confusion. In response to a letter sent to me, please find the following information sent back to the individual by the Government Agency in reference to the letter to myself. The original letter sent to me is below and the response from Mr. Poirier is above. In my personal opinion, I find it difficult that ANYONE in their right mind would send the letter as posted below. It is unfortunate that when expressing personal opinions and comments that people would address the issues in a responsible and civilized manner before sticking the cart out in front of the horse.

I merely ask and suggest that anyone having issues or questions about my status in to or as to the Nova Scotia Firewood Vendors Association, that they be so kind and contact the gentleman below at the information supplied.

And yes.....my name is there and is on the list of credible suppliers. As for the harsh comment letter forwarded to me by Mr. Ron V., it is people as yourself who make the world a place where the turmoil created by others creates the longs of uncertainty.

Thank you/Frank

To Whom This May Concern – Frank Rhyno’s Valley Firewood or who or whatever you are:

I find it absolutely disgusting that you would have the nerve to pose as someone in the N.S. Firewood Registry as you advertise in Kijiji.  You should be ashamed of yourself as a grown man. Whether or not you think you’re smart, this is one person who thinks you are both ignorant and untrustworthy.  I for one will not EVER consider buying wood from you because on checking this link to the Registry, you, sir, ARE NOT ON IT!

To me, this makes you no better than any of the other people out there, jilting and beating people into the ground through your mindless ads that you continually run on Kijiji, all the while scheming to shaft them over wood.  I do suggest you clean up your act and only print things that you directly are a part of.  As for claiming you are a member, you, sir, are nothing more than a cheat using something as a means of being advantageous to promote yourself for positive gain.  This makes you no different than a common criminal in a fraudulent sense.  My next letter will be to Kijiji to have this ad removed for posting untrue advertisements!

- Ron V.
***************************************************

Further update on MAY 17/2012.
PLEASE NOTE ON DELIVERIES:
As a shopping individual myself, I know the difficulties involved in the cost of everything today. As a person producing firewood for pick-up and delivery, it is essential to understand that  sadly, most things cost an arm and a leg and the costs will continue to increase. For those who think trucks operate as cheaply as cars, wages were at where they were 10 years ago, the costs on wood are as was 20 years ago, and gimmicks are a dime and a dozen, it is time to look at reality. For the few who think I play the dickering game on pricing of wood and deliveries, I do not. My price is the same for all and WILL NOT be adjusted to meet someone else's quote or claim to fame.

However, and in my defence, I do suggest you read the section on this website referring to delivered costs and the costs involved in buying wood and processing it. For many, and with the gimmicks and multiple ads on Kijiji, it is easy to understand why some insist on trying to negotiate. For the WISE, 90% of these ads are by the same persons WHO DO operate under multiples of UNREGISTERED BUSINESS NAMES and FUNCTION IN A CAPACITY OF MAKE BELIEVE ADDRESSES. In the process of their actions, TRUST ME, you are asking to get burned. If you read and study the dialogue as entered, compare the ads and process, there is no wonder why scammers are successfully screwing people over. TAKE THE TARGET OFF OF YOUR HEAD AND EDUCATE YOURSELF. What seems to good to be true, it too good to be true. These are the  people who count on your inability to see clearly through the message and hope that your intensity toward being dollar conscious will lower your guard.

I do know the proper costs of good wood, production and costs of delivering. When I see the ads for wood priced to deliver from $149.00 a cord and upward, I see the target out in full parade. The solution is simple, check with the Nova Scotia Registry of Firewood Sellers and verify the person for whom you are choosing to buy wood from. If they ARE NOT REGISTERED, there is a reason.  From there, VISIT the local NOVA SCOTIA BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU FOR A PROPER UPDATE ON THE STATUS OF WHOM YOU ARE PLANNING TO DEAL WITH. From there, go to Service Nova Scotia under the Registry of Joint Stocks and research the name. If it is not there, there is also a good reason. They are not registered or have been revoked for reasons that will be posted. And from there, FIND A PROPER ADDRESS, NAME of the OWNERS or OPERATORS and contact them by PHONE and DO NOT SEND THEM INFO FOR THEM TO CONTACT YOU. Remember, you will have no way of contacting them because many will not want to be found before and after delivery.

And the last important issue, READ THE KIJIJI and OTHER METHODS OF ADS CAREFULLY. If there is no traceable address, postal code and info, 'BUYER BEWARE.'  I am not trying to condemn anyone, but as clear as the complaint sent to me and answered by the Government above, 'DO NOT JUDGE US ALL BY THE MISTAKES YOU MAKE BECAUSE OF TRYING TO FIND THE DEAL.' There are no deals. The next time the urge confronts you to make one, call Nova Scotia Power, call your local oil or gas company,  better yet, pull into your local gas stop or local food store and try making a deal on the things you need; my bet is YOU DON'T HAVE THE NERVE, and better yet, COMMON SENSE tells you to forget it before you begin because you and all of us know it just isn't going to happen.

Remember this, the honest and proper suppliers will make an effort to be fully honest and share all proper information if asked. If not, let this be a lesson that there is a problem that YOU MUST research before considering spending your hard earned dollars. If you don't, you have no one to blame but yourselves.

Update January 17/2012.
I feel after today - January 17th/2012, and by the removal of my ad from the Kijiji site under firewood through search and go; which was placed only as a warning to CONSUMERS for their PROTECTION and AWARENESS, in relation to a couple of SCAMMERS in the H.R.M. area, who continually post bogus ads, and post FRAUDULENT ADVERTISING, pictures of wood and operations as NOT THEIRS, I want to clearly ESTABLISH that I am in NO WAY connected to, and do not have, any affiliation or association with any of the wood sellers operating and/or advertising on Kijiji. On top of that, the name I used going into the second year as 'FRANK's BEST BUY FIREWOOD', is now in the hands of Scammers and Misleading persons obviously willing to crawl in any ditch as they try to discredit me, fool you, the consumer, and try taking my business by unscrupulous and un-business like mannerisms.

I operate by the name of my Website. I do make all of my contacts and addresses available. I further this by, and when I do have wood ads appearing on Kijiji, that all directions, contacts an pictures of my operation, myself included, are mine and not copies of other businesses and wood in Canada and the U.S.  I further assure you that the addresses and contacts I do post, exist. I HAVE NEVER OPERATED as the individual posing as 'Frank's Firewood', and under about 9 other different names out of the so called Halifax/Dartmouth and Stewiake areas, or, in the overall jurisdiction of H.R.M. It is my plan and view, that as soon as I can uncover all the truths about these businesses and people, it will be posted on my site and directions to that will be posted.

It is clear that he knows his selling days are drawing to an end. I do suggest, BE MORE CAREFUL NOW THAN EVER BEFORE IF YOU ARE BUYING WOOD BECAUSE THIS MAN and NAMES HE OPERATES UNDER CANNOT BE TRUSTED IN ANY SUCH MANNER. I say this more-so now since he is now OPERATING UNDER MY OLD NAME, 'FRANK's BEST BUY FIREWOOD'. BE VERY CAREFUL ON OFFERED DEALS, MISREPRESENTATION and WHAT YOU ARE PROMISED. HOWEVER, FOR YOUR OWN SAFETY, MAKE IT CLEAR UP FRONT THAT YOU WILL NOT PAY FOR ANY WOOD UNTIL IT IS DELIVERED AND YOU ARE SATISFIED IT IS WHAT YOU ORDERED AND THE COUNT IS PROPER. Clearly establishing that you will have Measurements Canada measure before payment will ensure your safety.
